Step into the world of traditional crafts with our Felted Fleece Rug Workshop. Learn the art of transforming raw sheep fleece into a beautiful, handmade rug that will add warmth and charm to any space.. No matter how creative you are you will enjoy creating something from wool. Why not have a go at shearing a sheep as well.

What to expect

Felting Techniques: Discover the step-by-step process of wet felting, from preparing the fleece to the final touches.
Material Preparation: Understand how to select and prepare the best fleeces for felting.
Rug Creation: By the end of the workshop, you’ll have crafted your own felted fleece rug to take home.

We have a range of high quality felting wool in our onsite shop that you can purchase before you head home if you want to continue your crafting. ​

This is a great experience day for anyone and everyone whether you are a sheep-lover, crafter, smallholder or just fancy having a go at something different!

You don't have to be creative or artistic, remember everything can be art!

Need to Know

​​

  • You must be 16 or over to shear a sheep (under 16s will be shown how to roll wool and other helpful shearing roles)

  • Please bring wellies or old trainers and clothes that can get dirty or overalls.

  • Photos and videos will be taken during the day so you can look back on your shearing experience, if you would prefer not to be photographed please let us know.

  • Children must be accompanied by an adult. 

  • To ensure the well-being of the sheep and the quality of the experience the group sizes are kept small therefore unfortunately we do not allow bystanders on the experience.

  • Experiences start at 10am and last approximately 4-5 hours depending on activities. 

  • Please note that there are friendly dogs on the farm. Your own dogs are sadly not welcome for this experience due to the possible stress levels for the sheep.

  • If you would like to focus on a particular aspect of this experience, for example the shearing rather than felting, then please let us know.

  • The experience is conducted with small groups so early booking is advisable if you have a particular date in mind. 

  • Undated gift certificates are also available in our shop.
